Twelve YA Books You Need on Your Shelf

Updated: Nov 6, 2019

Sometimes you read a book and you’re just blown away, feeling lucky you happened to stumble across it. Whenever I get this feeling, I make a note of the book to recommend to friends or my sister because the book is so good I have to share it. This type of list is the resource I use when trying to find new books and authors. Nothing is better than the recommendation of a person who loves to read, so I am just looking to pay it forward. Here are the twelve best YA books I’ve read in the past year or so, books I hope other people get the chance to enjoy.

1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

2. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

3. Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

4. Shadow Run by Adrianne Strickland and Michael Miller

5. Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

6. Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

7. The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen

8. Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

9. Warcross by Marie Lu

10. To Kill of Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

11. Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser

12. The Bone Charmer by Breeana Shields
