Beach Reads For Teens
Updated: Dec 12, 2019
When I was in eighth grade, my family went to Cape May, NJ, for about a week and a half. When we first arrived my mom gave me a giant stack of books as a surprise. She had decided I was old enough to read my first romances (age appropriate, of course). During the trip, I read every single book she gave me. All standalone novels, I devoured each romance-- I couldn't believe that I had never read this type of book before. Up to that point, I was mainly reading mysteries (Nancy Drew series) and historical fiction (The Royal Diaries series). I am so glad my mom got m these books because they helped shape me as a reader (and as a hopeless romantic). Remembering these stories makes me nostalgic for that time at the beach with my family, but the books themselves made that vacation one of the most memorable.
1. The Best Girl by Emma Harrison
"You Are Cordially Invited . . .
to your brother's wedding where he will marry rich, famous Marni Shay, at the River Lodge, the most elite resort in Colorado, the state you chose to go to college in so you could escape your family, except they'll all be there. Enjoy ten fun-filled days of avoiding your mother, who still thinks you're not girly enough; planning your brother's bachelor party, because you are his best man, er, girl; and, oh yeah, trying not to drool all over Hot Connor, who happens to be in your English seminar and work at the River Lodge. Put your best foot forward, and . . .
Don't miss the most joyous celebration of the year!
2. Maine Squeeze by Catherine Clark
"In Maine Squeeze, eighteen-year-old Colleen Templeton can't wait for summer. She's going to share a house with her best friends, earn money for college, and spend every free moment with her boyfriend, Ben. It's the perfect plan. At least until she discovers that she's going to be working side by side with Evan, the guy she dated last summer—the best summer of her life . . . until he broke her heart. Will Colleen be able to keep her cool when this summer starts heating up?"
3. The Boyfriend League by Rachel Hawthorne
"Dani’s a tomboy, totally useless when it comes to romance. But this summer she and her best friend have a foolproof plan to change all that. Both of their families will be hosting summer league baseball players—a whole league of potential boyfriends!"
4. Labor of Love by Rachel Hawthorne
"Dawn has found the perfect way to forget her cheating boyfriend: leave town for the summer and do something very distracting, like volunteering to help rebuild storm-torn New Orleans. But when she meets handsome, kind Brady, Dawn realizes she could be fixing more than a devastated house—she might also be able to repair her broken heart."
5. Save the Date by Tamara Summers
"Victoria Finnegan to marry Kevin Ork in the Rose Bower of Cynthia Flair Botanical Gardens Sunday, June 17, 3 p.m.

Paris Finnegan is marrying Jiro Kuan on the beach at Huntsville National Park Saturday, August 11, 1 p.m.

Hideous bridesmaid dress fitting #6
Calm Victoria down
Try not to kill Paris
Try not to think about wedding planner's hot son
Do not date wedding planner's hot son
Stop kissing wedding planner's hot son!!!"
6. Love on the Lifts by Rachel Hawthorne

But they can survive three months apart, right? And Megan can resist Parker, her incredibly hot coworker . . . right?"
