Eating Lunch is Life-Changing

I grew up in an Italian-American household which means that dinner is a family affair, and portion size is very much a choose your own adventure. To compensate for my exuberant dinner consumption, I decided (with all the wisdom I had acquired by the seventh-grade) to skip lunch. This decision led to my metabolism revolting and my weight skyrocketed in solidarity (the two are best pals). After years of making this mistake, I one day realized the error in my ways. As a junior in high school, I was stressed and consistently laden with lots of homework. I had forgotten to eat breakfast and purposely skipped lunch- this unfortunate combination led to me fainting. I was rushed to the ER in an ambulance (my mom was understandably frightened). The doctor told me I was dehydrated and had not eaten enough that day- I shouldn’t worry about any other fainting spells as long as I remedied my eating and drinking habits.
Now, I eat lunch everyday. I don’t like fainting. The first time I ate lunch, I was positively gleeful. An exaggeration? No. My best friend can attest that my first bite of my chicken wrap caused me to beam. Lunch! It’s so great, who knew.
